Phone line cancellation costs receive much needed regulation
How often have you looked at advertisements from home phone service companies and wished you could switch companies and save on your monthly bill. Unfortunately canceling your home phone service contract incurs a huge penalty. Or at least it did until recently. New Ofcom regulations have drastically cut the cost of cancelling your contract and switching home phone line providers. Prior to the new regulations customers could expect to be charged at least the price of their new line rental for all of the remaining months of the contract. Plus many companies charged a premium above this if they installed a new landline connection. Now the most these companies can charge will be limited to a rate of between two and four pounds for each month remaining in the contract. Almost every telecommunications company in the United Kingdom offer special incentives should you decide to switch your phone service provider. These incentives always include at least three months reduced price for combined services and very often include a full year of free service for one of the most popular telecommunications products. For example if you sign up for a triple bundle of home phone, broadband, and TV you may very well receive broadband for free for up to one full year.
